About this site and me

About this site and me
Lake Grinnell, Glacier National Park, Montana, USA. Traditional home of the Blackfoot people.

We are all connected. The more I learn about the world, the clearer this is. I am a traveler and a writer– I am also a university professor with a PhD in political science. I am building my portfolio as a freelance travel writer. My academic background in political communication, the development of the U.S. and its origins in settler colonialism, and a grounding in the importance of solid quantitative and qualitative evidence shape my understanding the world.

In my travels, I seek to learn how we can sustainably live together, preserve and learn from the many cultures of the world, and recognize the many contributions of people and civilizations that have been marginalized and forgotten. Here, I share travel writing that fuses experience, context, and reflection. I bring the soul of a wanderer and the lens of a social scientist to my journeys and share them here with you.

Me at Fort Christian, St. Thomas, USVI
